William Katz:  Urgent Agenda

POLLS

Posted at 1:34 p.m. ET

Both our standard trackers for the day have been published.  As noted below, McCain picked up three points since yesterday in the Rasmussen tracker, to lead Obama by three.

However, McCain lost a point in the Gallup tracker, which now also has him ahead by three.  Two days ago he was up by five.

A new AP poll, just released, has McCain up four.  The results are presented by AP as grudgingly as possible.

We always stress that polls are snapshots.  However, the trend since the end of the conventions shows a modest lead for McCain, which, so far, he's kept.

Trackers tomorrow should pick up any changes prompted by Sarah Palin's first sit-down interview with major media.
